Okay, now that that's out of my system...I have some fast and simple cards to show you.

  

I made these super fun 3x3 cards today using one of the Thank You stamps Maria sends out with each order.  When you place a Kitchen Sink order, she sends you an extra little treat to thank you for your business.  Now tell me sistahs, how many other stamp companies do that?  Huh?

This image is from January's order.  Isn't that owl so darn cute?  I stamped him in Chocolate then colored him in with my Copics.  The paper is from SU!'s 6x6 Hostess pack, and the base of the cards are PTI's Stamper's Select White.  They were so fun to make, that I couldn't stop at two....

 

...I had to make 3 of each color.  I like having these little cards on hand at school because sometimes you just need a little note of thanks for someone and having these there ensures a timely expression of gratitude.

Don't Worry & Save The Date

Good Evening Sistahs!

I only have a few minutes so this is going to be a quick post.  I have some very exciting news and a fun card to share.  I love playing along with Taylor's Cupcake Challenges and since I was gone last week, I put it on the top of my priority list for this week.  So here my sistahs, is my take on this weeks Cupcake Challenge.

All I could think about when I was making this card was the Bob Marley Song, "Three Little Birds."  (In fact, I'm singing it to myself right now. *giggle)  "Don't worry, about a ting, 'cause every little ting, is gunna be alright."  Aren't these the cutest little birds from The Greeting Farm?  It's from the set Wild Things.  Each little bird was colored with Copics, cut out, and popped up on top of yet another chalk created sky.  Then, I took cut out an extra birdie beak for each of them, covered them with glossy accents, and popped them up too.

Now for the Save the Date Part!

If you are a fan of The Greeting Farm, and you live in Colorado, you are going to want to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18th.  You are going to want to reserve the ENTIRE DAY for some ink, paper & fun!

Right At Home

Good Afternoon Sistahs!

After a loooooong week of being away from my ink and paper, I have finally returned and I couldn't wait to play along with jen del muro's Sketch For You To Try.  Since we just spent the last week in Arizona with my mom and step-dad, I wanted to use jen's sketch to make a thank you card for them.

What do you think?

I have had this PTI set {Boards & Beams} for a few weeks now and it fit my needs perfectly.  I used a piece of Twitterpated*Colorfall from Imaginisce along the top in the thin panel. After I used my Copics to color in the house, I used chalks to create a sky and grass, then I popped the house up on top. The flowers are from Heidi Swapp & SU! Pretties kit and I used a 1" circle punch for the red behind the blue button. Whew!  That was FUN!

Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge!

Good Morning Sistahs!

It's time for another FABULOUS Monday!  And you know what that means....Kitchen Sink Monday!  It's not just any Monday, it's Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge Monday.  And Tammy is our hostess with the mostess.

Tammy's challenge is:

Create an ATC (Artist Trading Card), then use it on a card.  Sounds simple enough right?  Well, the hardest part for me was picking out which stamp set to use. *giggle  I ended up going for the 3-Step Honey Bunny set, (yet again.)  I know...I know...but I just have been in a Honey Bunny kinda mood lately.  First...here's my ATC:

(Forgive me, I had to crop it out of my card because I'm on vacation and apparently I didn't download JUST the ATC from my camera. Doh!)

And here's my card using the ATC:

I wanted it to seem as though I was bringing a Black & White photo into color.  So the Bunny, Grass & Sky were all created using grey tones and the ATC itself was made using bright colors.  What do you think?  Did I manage?

Do you ever....?

Good Morning Sistahs!

It's Friday!  Woo Hoo!  It's also the last day of school for me before Spring Break.  I just have to make it through the day.  (I think I can...I think I can....I think I can...)

Every year the elementary school I work at has a big celebration called For the Love of the Arts.  Basically what it is, is our school community comes together and shares their love of art.  It is mostly parents and staff that share, but we get a wide variety of entries.  We have photography, wood working, musicians, poets, hair stylists, actors, singers, dancers, drummers, bakers, paper crafters, and everything in between.  For the past two years I have been asked to display some of my paper creations.  What a wonderful opportunity for me to share my love for paper crafting with my students!  

In years past I have only been able to display and talk about my art, but this year we used it as a fundraiser with 20% of all profits going back to the school.  Brilliant...especially since the money will be used to pay for my position at the school next year.  I of course have tons of cards just hanging around so I have plenty to put on display.  People started asking questions, and eventually folks started inquiring about the prices.

PRICES?!?  Um....they are PRICELESS...well, not priceless, but you know what I mean.  Many of the cards I had created with someone specific in mind, some were challenge cards, and some were nothing more than a labor of love.  As people perused the cards, seeking one to fit their needs, I felt myself getting anxious at the thought of letting them leave me.  Were they going to a good home?  Eventually I got over myself and just let things go, but for a minute, I seriously contemplated packing up and retreating to my stamp room with all my creations.

So with this sistahs, I ask you.....

Do you ever have a card that you just can't give away?

Whew...I got that off my chest.  Now, I can show you one of the cards I was commissioned to make last night.  We have a family here that just loves Hedgehogs, and it was certainly appropriate to use this very old, and very retired Stampin' Up! set.

 

I feel like it needs a little more, but sometimes...less is more.  (I'm probably going to do a more is more layout with this one soon.) *giggle.

Anya is in Da House!

Good Morning Sistahs!

Can you believe it's already Wednesday?  I know I can't!  I have to tell you sistahs....I have fallen in love with the ANYAS!  I know...where have I been?  I actually have loved them for a while now, but I haven't owned any until recently.  Oh sistahs, are they ever fabulous to color!  There is so much more room to color, and they are abso-smurfly adorable.  Me thinks Copics and Anyas were made for each other.

So do you wanna see what I created for my very first Anya project?  I certainly hope so...because here it is!

The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink's It's A Celebration set and this is my dear friend Teacher Anya.  Isn't she so flippin' cute?  I wanted to create a project as a teacher gift and of course thought this would be PERFECT!  And what project is complete without Glossy Accents?  You can see it on her bright red apple!  

The Card Purse itself was made with the fabulous directions found {here} on Tracy Harp's Blog.  So super easy...you'll want to make a million yourself!

Now...I'm saving the best part for last....are you ready?  Guess who I got to meet!!!  The Queen of The Greeting Farm....Marie!!  She is the sweetest gal a girl could want to know, and her puppins are so cute!  She lives like 15 minutes away from me and I got to hang out with her for a quick minute when I dropped by to pick up some Anyas.  Is that not the best?!?!  I mean seriously!  We have made a pact to hang out and stamp together....soon!  So all my Colorado Sistahs who want to come and play need to stay tuned to my blog for further details.

Kitchen Sink Monday!

It's yet another Kitchen Sink Monday and I have to say that I'm pretty darn excited for Spring to come. So, why not bust out my favorite KS set 3-Step Hunny Bunny set and make this card!

Well, whaddya think?  Is it a Happy, Sunny Bunny day?  I just love the yellow of the bunny and who wouldn't be cheered by his bright disposition?  

I created the grass with my Copics and the sky using my chalks.  The bunny was stamped with the following recipe:

Step 1.) Barely Banana

Step 2.) Summer Sun (Stamped off once)

Step 3.) Summer Sun

Step 4.) So Saffron

I have two words for you...IN STYLE!

Good Morning Sistahs!

Didja see the InStyle Blog today?  Huh? Huh? Didja?  

Well if you did,  you would have noticed that I made the new Design Team!  Woot Woot!  Can I tell you how flippin' excited I am?  These stamps ROCK and I get to play with them out of the comfort of my very own stamp room!  

I have been incredibly busy with a Math Project which is why I haven't posted any of my creations this week.  So, just as a reminder, I'm going to share my DT entry projects with you.  I was selected for the Anime team, but I'm gonna share the Retro line entries with you too.  (I know you've seen them already, but I love this images so much....I gotta share them again.)

Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge With Nicole!

Good Morning Sistahs!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...er...a beautiful day to be in the Sink!!  My sistah Nicole has turned up the heat in the Kitchen with this week's Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge.  

Here's Nicole's Challenge:

Creative Use of Photos - Incorporate a photograph into your card or project.  But there's a catch...you cannot create a scrapbook page.  That would be too easy!  (Unless of course you're me...because I am so not a scrapbooker. *giggle)

I thought I could get away with some inspiration from a photo, but she reminded me that a photo actually had to be on the card.  DOH!  So here we are sistahs, my creation with...not one...not two...but THREE photos.  (Do I get bonus points?)

This card has photos of the CUTEST cupcake I've ever seen.  One of the teachers I work with brought these adorable cupcakes to our Wednesday morning staff meeting a few weeks ago and I thought it was so cute that I protected it from everything (*read here - first grade fingers, teenage son, & hubby with sweet tooth) so I could take a picture of it.  

On top of the cupcake is an Oreo Cookie that has been decorated to look like a sunflower with the most radiant golden orange frosting.  If you look closely, you can see the M&M ladybug that has been frosted and decorated.  Isn't it the cutest?  Seriously!

Okay, enough with the cute...there's more sistahs!  Wonderful things are happening with the Kitchen Sink Crew Contests!  Maria has changed up the contest like you would not believe!  There are even more opportunities for you to win free stamps and even a $50 shopping spree just for playing along.  For all the details visit the Kitchen Sink Blog.  (This is also where you'll upload your creations for the new contests!)

Now, here are the deets for my card.  I used the Gerbera Daisy from the 3-Step Honey Bunny set, but tried to disguise it as a sunflower.  Then I used the heart from the 3-Step Hearts and Roses set to create my ladybug.  (See Maria, you're not the only one who can turn that heart into something else. *wink)  I also used the leaves from the 3- Step Hearts and Roses.  Oh and I almost forgot, the dots on the ladybug's back were made with the teeny-tiny dot found in the Playful Frames & Journaling set.  It's not a card without some Glossy Accents, so of course I had to add some to the middle of the flower, (which also happens to be popped up on a dimensional,) on the ladybug's dots, and on the ladybugs in the photo of the cupcakes.  Whew...that's a lot of gloss.  *giggle  Finally...I used my handy-dandy Scor-pal and created some vertical lines to give the background a little texture.

Good Morning Sistahs!

Happy Friday!  Can you believe it's already Friday?  I so can't.  It has been one crazy week and it's hard to believe that the weekend is upon us. 

Speaking of weekend.....this Saturday is Frenzy at Scrapbook Destination!  What is Frenzy you ask?  Well, it's a great way to make super cute projects without breaking the bank.

I figured I'd give you a sneak peek at the project I've created for this weekend, just in case you want to come by.

I'm not sure it's going to look exactly like this, but you get the gist right?

I stamped her with green ink and colored her in with pencils.  You know I had to add the BLING and Glittah.  Because Bling and Glittah make everything better.

Now here is my plea....

With economic times being the way they are, it is getting harder and harder for small family owned businesses to stay open.  Please my sistas PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE shop at your Local Scrapbooking Store.  You're going to spend the money anyway, why not use your money for good?  You usually get more personalized service and I know I like to go..."where everybody knows my naaaaame.  And they're always glad I caaaaaaame."  (Quick shout out to the gals at SBD! Love you all!)
