Good Evening Sistahs!
I have to share that I am on cloud 9! Yep! Thanks to my stampin' friend Theresa I finally had the honor of meeting one of my stampin' heroes: the ever lovely Holly McMillen or Toy on Splitcoast. I have been the biggest fan of her work long before she was ever a "Dirty Girl," and I was so excited that she invited me to her home to do some stampin'! I squealed like a little girl, then composed myself so that she wouldn't think I was a NUT-JOB! *giggle
While we were there, she asked us if we wanted to help her out with samples for the TLC Challenge over at Splitcoast...UM YEAH!!! So here's what I made!
Now mind you, I did NOT complete this project while I was with Holly....I am the slow duck that needs days apparently to finish such a neat project. Here's what it looks like with the box open:
I found the cutest Pirate paper while I was out the other day, and I couldn't help but buy it for this project. I actually bought the last two pieces and I'm SO GLAD I did. Here's JUST the card:
The image was a gift to me from the ever sweet Lee Murphy...who was also there stampin' away with us. I just fell in love with Lili of the Valley's Pirate Bear so I just HAD to ink him up and create my project with him. Isn't he adorable? I colored him in with my Copics, which took a good few hours. It's hard to tell in this photo, but his hat and the tube are both popped up. Since I couldn't find a sentiment to go with him, I made my own. I tried to make it look as piratey as possible....what do you think?
Finally, here's a photo of my project without the card peeking through the window:
I wanted you to be able to see the skull and crossbones on the inside when the card wasn't inside. I also covered the edges with thin strips of the pirate paper, and managed to get the words, "Dead men tell no tales" along the spine. I was going to take a photo, but figured you'd see the good stuff already...do you really need to see the edges of the box too? *giggle
The flap is held closed by some magnets which were carefully placed on the inside between the tray and the flap. I tried to do as much concealing as possible.
Now that you've seen my sample...it's time to create your own! Make sure you check out the challenge {HERE}.
Thanks for stoppin' by!
Inky Hugs & Happy Stampin'
